We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend to stop in Hoi An for a few days if you are planning a trip to Vietnam (even not having visited the whole country yet).
It's located 45min away from Danang Airport and a mere 10min drive to the beach. We saw a lot of people riding bicycles to move around town and go to the beach. It seems like most hotels either lend or rent bicycles. We could not take this option because I'm pregnant and did not feel safe riding along some of the busy roads. Also, it was really hot in mid June (approx. 35 degrees celsius), so walking within the city limits and taking a hotel shuttle/taxi to the beach seemed like a more adequate solution. Both the sand and the sea were really clean, so make sure you go for a swim. It's a fantastic reward after a hot day of sightseeing.
So, here is a round up of the highlights of the charming old town of Hoi An.
Reaching Out Tea House - A social business supporting the hearing and speech impaired. That should be reason enough to drop by, right? But when the setting is as beautiful as this tea house, the ambiance is as relaxing, the tea, coffee and sweets are the best you can have in Hoi An, can you find a reason not to go there every day? We couldn't! Definitely not to miss!
The Cargo Club - We tried both local and western dishes and all of them were really good. From drinks, to mains, to desserts, everything was very tasty. It's not the cheapest option, but the quality of the food and the higiene standards made up for that.
Nu Eatery - Delicious Fusion food. Book ahead as seating is quite limited. Get one of each on the menu. It's well worth it!
Have a happy nice day!
